Thank you!
What you have to watch out for is that when you state a benefit, you don’t give away the whole game, because that encourages skimming and people won’t start reading your post.
This makes perfect sense. I catch myself doing that as well. When someone just summarizes the benefit (or the tip) up front- I get it and move on to the next one.
For today’s assignment, I went back to the post I want to write:
How to find time for yourself and stop feeling guilty
The big idea: shame is hurting you and your ability to live a healthy life. You can change that, find time for yourself, and be a happier, better parent.
Outline:
1. Intro: you have no time for yourself, and even if you do find some- you’re feeling guilty about it. You can change that.
2. Common myths that are holding you back (brene brown research: “never enough”, exhaustion as a status symbol, productivity as self worth, perfectionism). Understand them, recognize them, and let go of them.
3. Self-compassion, play and rest are essential (backed up by research)
4. So where to find time for play and rest- tips from moms like you (early morning, with the kids, say no, communicate your needs to loved ones- ask for help)
5. Conclusion: let go of guilt, being a busier mom does not make you a better mom, being a happier mom certainly does.
Subheads:
Never ____ enough
Where perfectionism really comes from
Exhaustion is not a status symbol
An essential part of life you’re probably missing
Tried and true by moms like you
{the next 3: subheads or bullet points}
The magic word
The wonder times
Keep the lines open
The truth about parenting
Now I can’t wait to write it 🙂
In this case, outlining first seemed like a better idea. I had many ideas and arranging them was just what I needed!
