Hi, I’m Alissa – reporter turned copy editor turned web producer, and now – though a little rusty – writer and communicator.
I work for the Ontario College Application Service and our new CEO is very interested in starting a company blog. Hip, hip, hooray! I’m using this course as a catalyst to get that project underway, but I want to make sure we do it right – the last thing we want is to be the newest plot in the business blogging graveyard.
Our industry is education, particularly the integration of education and technology, and we want to share our knowledge and expertise with our audience. But we also want to do a bit of brand management – we’re the first to admit we’ve been a bit stodgy and conservative in the past, but now it’s time to shake things up and let people know that we’re a group of fun, passionate, talented – dare we say it – humans, who want to open up to the world.
Ulterior motive time: Even though my background is writing, and I’ve actually done a fair bit of blogging, I’ve never actually had my own blog. I’m working on building my personal website (it’s alissarobson.com, but it’s full of “coming soons” for now), and one of my goals is to have a blog on it. I hope to take everything I learn here and use it to motivate myself to write more and have fun finding my own voice.
Nice to meet you all!
