Okay, so this is what I’m thinking…rather than being too scattered by having two ideal readers, it can actually be a benefit to help me narrow my focus…IF I concentrate most of my efforts on the elements in their profiles that are the same.
They both are low-impact people who live well within their means BUT spare no expense on the few areas that give their lives meaning.
Nancy’s pet habit and horsey world is expensive even if she does do most of her shopping at the local thrift shop and REI clearance sales.
Gary will wear jeans and an oxford to work with an old pair of cross-trainers. But will donate time and resources to sponsor a local science fair.
They both have no problems whipping out their wallets for causes that make a difference. Also they both indulge their secret passions during their vacation times. They may love to camp and hike, but both are very comfortable staying at luxury resorts (especially if they got it at an auction to benefit a cause).
Both invest heavily in books and music and see themselves as mini patrons of the arts. Both dislike wasted time on social media…except both love podcasts and educational YouTube videos and independent films.
Both would invest in self-improvement and education…especially if it could be done from the privacy of their home or on special retreats. Neither want to mix their secret passions and private lives with the people that they interact with on a day to day basis.
Both like to hear about me trying things that they might never try…or admit to trying. They really like our differences. It gives them a chance to venture outside of their normal comfort zones. Both of them have a social role to fill that needs some care protecting. They like me to tell them stories…and take them to new places to meet new people in my retellings. And both like to talk philosophy…but not pretentiously.
I just introduced Nancy to Brainpickings. I think Gary would like it as well.
Neither one is woo woo, but both are secretly very spiritual. It is couched in science and nature terminology…as well as culture/arts.
Both are TEDx fans.
One of my blogs is larabritt.com [currently archived material on the free WP version]. It started out as “Writing Space” two years ago and has morphed into “Lara Britt Writes” with the tagline “Around & About Hawaii”…but I could see that being “Around & About…[fill in the blank]” Travel, lifestyle,life-long learning, and writing geared at empty nesters that are more interested in experiences than possessions. For the curious mind and the adventurous spirit…and the considerate heart.
[Hawaii Content Marketing is another blog that is currently shuttered. So is a writer’s co-op blog.]
