Neti Neti Neti…not this, not that…
I think what I’m doing is dusting the mirror. I think I’m heading in the right direction. And I’m also thinking that the solution is pretty obvious, but for some reason I’m needing to take the scenic route with this step.
I think really, really, really…given where I am and what I “eat for breakfast”…aka, what I read on a regular basis, who I follow, etc. I should be honing in on a more generic audience of business bloggers who can use my copywriting skills.
I think that one part of my brain is thinking about Jon’s guest blogging while another part of my brain is thinking Brian’s local/hyperlocal angle…and the most dominate part of my brain sees in the ideal reader a character profile (fiction) and thinks in terms of voice from a fiction point of view.
So I think if I were more confident that a business person would like my quirky style… which rationally I think they would…but I haven’t quite internalized it all the way. I need a business person who is a Copyblogger reader/fan. Someone who listens to This American Life and watches PBS Newshour…maybe even Stephan Colbert and Charlie Rose. Maybe they like the idea of Hawaii and travel like your readers like to hear about your biking analogies.
Time to think a bit in the shower. ^-^
